Capture the Tag

A collaborative, locative, art appreciation game

Problem

Solution
A location based game designed for the Hirshhorn Museum’s sculpture garden built using the Aris game design platform.

Role
User research, Game Design

Background

Capture the tag is a locative art appreciation game designed in partnership with the Institute of Play for the Smithsonian's Hirshhorn Museum. The game, created using the Aris platform, introduced location-based games to students.

Each player was given a list of descriptive terms that needed to "capture" by visiting various sculptures throughout the sculpture park. Student's then hacked the game to create their own location based mobile games.

This project was done in collaboration with David Carroll and The institute of Play.
